EV Conversion

Of course, Godwin is taking a few liberties in describing the ease of an EV conversion, but these have everything to do with the still-just-hobby-scale nature of such things. In addition to the motor and the batteries, you need a controller—the thing which regulates the voltage to the motor—and you need to provide replacement power for things like the heater, power steering, power brakes, and so on.
But it *does* look relatively easy to convert a light truck or a smallish car (without AC or power-anything) to a decent electric vehicle for under $5000.
It makes me wish I could buy back the 1967 Ford Anglia that I sold to John Paul Kunselman in 1989… that thing would make a great EV if you could figure out how to pack enough batteries into it.
