The Web Breaks, Get Over It
I don’t really care what Microsoft decides to do about version incompatibilities between their crapped-up browsers, but I understand why other web developers are angry about it. Too many late nights banging your head against the desk because the perfect design absolutely fails to render in MSIE will do that to a person.
Learning that big corporate intranets and e-commerce sites are the main barrier to change doesn’t make it any easier to take. Oooh, the sliced images in your tables broke. Well la di da, you might need to work later than 5:30 tonight.
The web breaks design. We’ve all known it for years. Every site that works in more than one browser is a compromise. Roll up your sleeves, sit down, and fix it like the rest of us do. It will get better, we’ve seen it happen.
Anway, you can always use a little Javascript to perform regressive enhancement so that your pages still work in IE6 and 7.
