iPhone + gloves = non-starter
I think I just found the nail in the coffin for my iPhone: it doesn’t work when you’re wearing gloves.
It’s 24 degrees, the wind is blowing up 6th Avenue, and I have to use the thing with my bare fingers? No phone is worth this.
Some other iPhone complaints, while on the subject:
-
SMS doesn’t work in landscape mode.
- Passwords are super easy to shoulder-surf thanks to the visual keyboard, and yet there is no way to render them in plain text for usability.
- No selection, no clipboard.
- No caps lock.
- Nice Terminal but no arbitrary control keys (not Apple’s fault, this one)
Using the Amazon Kindle, a seriously polished product with zero sexy-factor, has made it painfully obvious just how beta the iPhone is. Revolutionary, fun, shiny. But definitely not polished.
I look forward to the day when an iPhone update produces something more useful than deeper iTunes integration.
